Johannesburg is well known for its awesome and mighty thunderstorms, and they’re beautiful. But lately, it has just been out of control. The wind was so bad the other night that it ripped this street light in two!
All this weird weather got me thinking about the fiery personalities in the Bible. In the Garden of Eden God would “walk in the cool of the day” (Genesis 3:8). The Hebrew word for cool is ruwach which means heavenly wind, a breath of air, but also impatience and anger. So God entered the garden on a breath of heavenly wind, but angry and impatient with what had just transpired! Talk about traveling in style!
James and John were known as the sons of thunder. It delights me that two human beings were given a nickname by God Himself! This nickname, Boanerges, referred to their fiery zeal which was much like a thunderstorm. Turbulent. Stormy. As destructive as these guys could be, I like them, because they loved Jesus so much yet were so ‘human’.
Imagine being so full of zeal for God that the Lord Himself gives you a nickname. How incredible! I often wonder that if Jesus had to give me a nickname, what it would be.
James and John are the prime example that shows us that Jesus does not see what we are, but He sees the best we can become. John eventually received the nickname “Apostle of love”.
This leads me to the point of this post. What has God been stirring in your heart to do for Him in the Kingdom? What fire has He lit in you that you can do with so much zeal and impact, that He may secretly have His own nickname for you?
He has stirred something inside of me for three years to implement on a national level and I have finally started it. I feel a rumbling in the heavenlies lately. Big things are coming – and I must be part of it! No greater Orchestrator has the world seen than God Himself! I want to go out with such a fiery zeal in doing the Lord’s work that He can’t help but want to give me a nickname of my own. Breathed on me from His own lips- I am excited!
I would love to hear, if you can share, what the Lord has been leading you to do. Let’s pray for discernment so that we may know without a doubt what impact we can make from this day on. Suit up and ride a wind called Ruwach- the whole of Heaven is watching!
I’m catching your excitement and zeal, Caddie. Perhaps one day we will hear of a ‘daughter of …’? To tell the truth, I hope God stirs such enthusiasm up in me, I could use it. I think a long time ago He did whisper a nickname and job description to me, but I’ve lost sight of it. But bless you, I feel refreshed by your sense of destiny and calling.
YAY! 😀 I’m gonna include you in my prayer time today so that one day we can read a blog post of what He has unfolded for you! Exciting times!! 😀
Thanks 🙂
Oh, this is wonderful!!!! I am so excited within your excitement!! There is something stirring deep within me, as well. Not sure if it has to do with my writing or what. Inner healing maybe that He needs me to go through refining fires to achieve. I am not sure. But, I am excited to go through with Him…whatever it is.
Thank you, Caddie!!!! You bless me immensely.
That is AWESOME 😀 I cant wait for you to find out what it is! Enjoy the journey 😀 😀

Great post–and a challenging one. I have a nickname that is a calling, that was spoken over me in prophesy. It is “Giant killer.” that sounds high and lofty but trust me it is not. It is a description of what i am privileged to do on a one on one basis as the Holy Spirit leads and gives the opportunity. I am privileged to pray one on one with those who have been beaten from pillar to post and have fallen between the cracks. To sit in the active presence of the Holy Spirit and behold His work ( i have a saying, “I can’t heal a flea with a toothache” but, the Holy Spirit can and does heal) is life changing. Blessings.
Mannyr on the other side of the earth.
Wow, that IS a privilege! And such an awesome name 😀 Hope I find mine

I am not too sure of a nickname as yet:) But besides praying and posting various things online and spreading His Word as far as I can I used to be a vet asst and did a lot of rescue work for animals over the years. I can’t do it now due to bad knees and arthritis but I still have the rescues here that I personally come across. Anyways due to my past I am fairly well versed in medicine as I also used to be a certified nursing asst (yes, at the same time I was vet assisting). So I have a collection of herbal teas and other things which I am saving for when I am gone (hopefully raptured) that others will be able to use when they find my stash. I am currently attempting to label it for its uses so people with no training will know how to use it too. Its not an Earth shaking thing but its something they will no doubt need:)
I feel in my spirit that there is something else too but as yet its not revealed…but I keep having dreams that I can’t recall but I feel like I have been to school during the night. I can’t wait to hear what your thing is Caddie! Sounds amazing and I pray you are successful sister. God bless.
I love it Sharon!! I think you and me will probably get a nickname to do with animal rescues! Haha! I also think you have a greater impact than you think you have! 🙂
This was a fun blog posting to read. It brought memories of my time living in South Africa on the east side of Pretoria and standing outside on the porch and watching the awesome display of God’s power. I miss the brilliance of the light strikes and echoing sounds of rolling thunder. People around me would be afraid. Just this morning I was spending time reading through Exodus,.I was struck with the oddity of what people feared [Ex 19:16]. They feared more the thunder and lightening than the the instructions that God was giving them. And the proof of the pudding is in the heat of fear they were will to obey [“we will do all that you say”], but when there was not physical fear, they, like us, failed.
I love the OT! So often when I’m reading it I think to myself “how can you complain again after what God just did for you?!” When I’ve actually done a similar thing myself! Big mouth! Hehe
Great post! Blessings, Natalie 🙂
Thanks Natalie 🙂 this was my last post til new year so have a blessed Christmas xx
I pray your Christmas is a very blessed one indeed! Natalie 🙂
Reblogged this on B.I. Plymale.
I was just thinking this the other day while reading Genesis. How for instance Sarah and Abraham received those names. I was wondering the same thing. I pray my zeal to love others is what shines to our heavenly father. Miss ya! Hope your Christmas and New Year were nice!! Also, are you back on Facebook? I would love to be friends on there!!
Hi Marty! Yes it was lovely thank you! And yours? Yes I’m back on for a while- what is your user name on there, ill add you! 🙂

Sounds good!
O’ Caddie, this reminded me why I love you! I’ve missed you a ton. Just getting back in the groove and thought I’d swing by only to find this 🙂
I want to hear what God has put on your heart to do. You have my attention (all of it).
((HUGS))
Hiiii! 🙂 And how strange- you have been on my mind for the past week! Missed you too, hoping to see more of you! 😀
Love this! What is God stirring in your heart to accomplish nationally? I feel a similar call, but not yet. In the future. I was just chatting with my daughter today saying, “If you were a bug, what kind of bug would you be?” She said, “A butterfly.” I said, “I guess I would be a cricket. Because they are social, can jump far and fast and they like to sing.” You pose a similar question….If God gave you a nickname, what would it be? I would guess it would have to be something that means sweet, energetic and funny – (and impulsive). Thanks for this great post.
I will post about it soon-just been battling to find a spare moment to blog. At least you have an idea, I actually have NO idea what my nickname would be lol! I would love for Him to tell me! 😀
I really have no idea either. I was just guessing based upon my personality. Have you ever taken a personality test?
Yes I have 🙂 And my job requires that I administer them too. They’re fun!
